“ Best Italian restaurant in the Richmond area and no one will change my mind. Been going here for years and couldn't dream of going anywhere else. No matter how busy they are, you are always greeted with a smile at the door by one of the owners. Their team is awesome and works very well together even on busy nights. I'll never support another Italian restaurant as long as The grapevine is around. Mitch and Marianne are awesome, truly hard to find a place where people actually take the time to talk to you and make you feel welcome. When they ask " how'd everything come out?" They genuinely mean it because they genuinely care. Honestly one of the best restaurants in town. ”
“ You know that feeling when you walk into a place and immediately think, "Wow, these people really know what they're doing"? That's Grapevine. The moment we stepped inside, the heavenly aroma set the tone. To say they were busy would be an understatement--they were hosting a massive corporate holiday party, accommodating several large groups of 9-10, and tending to their regular patrons. Yet, their customer service never faltered. Seriously, 11 out of 10. From the hostess to our waitress, the pianist, the drummer, and every staff member we encountered, everyone was incredibly kind and gracious. I felt immersed in the welcoming culture of Grapevine. And the food? WOW. Our party of six loved every single bite. The bread with oil and spices was chef's kiss. The spanakopita was perfectly light and refreshing, and the homemade Grecian dressing? So good! Now, let's talk main courses. I had Poseidon's Alfredo, and it did not disappoint. Restaurants sometimes over-season, but Grapevine let the creamy Alfredo sauce shine, perfectly complemented by tender shrimp and scallops. My fiancé got the gyro sandwich (which he loved), but those fries--WOW. I'd go back just for the fries alone. For ambiance, we sat near the live music, and it was incredible. The pianist could sing, and the music was just loud enough to enjoy without overpowering table conversations. Add in the Christmas decorations, and it felt like stepping into a Hallmark movie. We were so stuffed we couldn't even try dessert, but we'll definitely be back. If you haven't tried Grapevine yet, go. They will NOT disappoint! ”
“ Loved the atmosphere and the old school feel of the place. The food was great, and the staff was polite and attentive. Will definitely go back! LGBT+ friendly place. ”
“ What a fabulous family owned restaurant! It is spectacularly decorated throughout, very true to the Greek/Italian theme. The staff were so so kind and attentive- I watched several families get greeted by name and loved that. I arrived at 5:45PM on a Saturday for dinner and waited about 20 minutes (you can't call ahead). It was busy but they were organized. We enjoyed the chicken Parmigiana and eggplant Parmigiana with baked spaghetti, and I also loved the caprese salad I ordered. Everything was delicious. I will most definitely be back for dessert! The later hours had no wait- if you arrive after 7:45PM for a late dinner, you'd be seated immediately. ”
“ This is the first time visiting The Grapevine, and I will say I will be back! Our party sat in the patio area where it was nicely decorated and spacious, there was a little fountain and some wing back chairs that people were taking pictures in. Our waiter was nice and on point as the night went on and got busier he seemed to "lose" interest in a table that was already established and food was ordered. So a few times we ran out of water, the kids out of drinks etc. I feel like this is something that is basic service with N/A drinks especially water to keep full. But other than that the food was amazing! My mother and her friend both got the chicken kabobs, my son the chicken fettuccine, I had the eggplant parmigiana, and my daughter had the Pastitsio Greek Lasagna. We took dessert home, Baklava which was really yummy! We will be back to try some more. Thank you for a great dinner! ”
“ Very popular family run restaurant serving Greek and Italian dishes. I met a friend for dinner around 5:45pm and there was a crowd waiting to be seated. Our wait wasn't too long thankfully. There are several different rooms, each decorated differently, but all with Mediterranean themes. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. I got the chicken parmigiana, which came with baked spaghetti and a side salad. It was very tasty and the portion size was generous. The dessert cart looked amazing, but I had no room for anything else-the waitress mentioned that her son always orders dessert first. I may have to try that next time. The restaurant started to clear out around 8:00pm, so if you don't want to wait, that's the time to come. ”
“ This review is going to be a little bit different than my previous ones. While I typically prefer to stay on topic and focus on the food at the restaurant this one deserves to be praised in other ways. My first time ever coming here and I am immediately greeted by a sign that says "sorry for long wait lines. We have an unusual amount of large parties tonight." Or something to that effect. The host (tall man with dark hair and all grey suit) put us down and said the wait would be about an hour. We contemplated it but decided to run down the street for some quick shopping then came back in 40 minutes. When we came back we stayed in the packed waiting area for our names to be called. During this time I observed many, many customers come in greet the host (as they were clearly local and frequent customers) in the back of my head I knew the place had to be special in some way for that many people to come in for pickup. Fast forward about another 45-60 minutes later and we are finally seated at our table. During this entire time the host constantly checked in on me and my date. Asking if we would like any free drinks while we waited. Then as we sat at the table we were offered a complimentary app and a dessert at the end of the meal The food at this place is pretty good. But the service you receive here is truly special. I have never in my life witnessed such a respectable and polite team at any restaurant that can compare to this one. A MAJOR shoutout has to go to the main host (I REALLY wish I could have caught his name to give him a proper thank you) as he had set forth easily the greatest display of hospitality management I have ever witnessed in person. He could literally teach a class on hospitality to college students right now if he wanted to do so. Everyone came to him to for answers. And he never looked flustered once, always greeted everyone with a smile, and truly made it a memorable experience eating at Grapevine. I was so in awe on my ride home that I decided to read there foundation story from the menu. While many places claim to have a "family" element to their dining experience, none have even come close to the one I had this past Saturday. I wish this family nothing but success and am grateful I got to dine here. Will definitely come back next time I am in the Richmond area. ”
“ I can only report this is a great restaurant. I love the fresh backed bread that is especially great when turned into a cheesesteak sub. My wife loves the thin-sliced Eggplant Parm. And we both agree the Calamari is the best in Richmond. ”
“ Came in on a Wednesday during lunch and ordered the Mother Mary Special ($14). It was a spaghetti dish with grilled chicken, feta, mozzarella cheese. The pasta was cooked very well and tasted buttery and cheesy on top. Chicken was seasoned well and moist. This was a big serving where you could have enough leftover for a second meal. Staff and interior was nice. A very nice Italian/Greek restaurant to go. Overall a great experience here, I would definitely come back again to try other dishes! Food: 8.0 Staff/service: 7.0 Value: 7.5 Overall: 7.7/10 ”
“ This was a really good Greek/Italian spot. We started with the flaming cheese. Highly recommend it if you've never had it at any Greek restaurant before. I ordered the baked spaghetti and my girlfriend ordered the chicken Alfredo. The baked spaghetti ended up being a little lackluster from what I was expecting in my head. It really just tasted like cheap grocery store spaghetti with meat sauce and cheese that was baked in the oven. The chicken fettuccine Alfredo was definitely better. I ordered a Greek beer and it was good and light. The service was pretty good here. Our waitress was attentive and got us anything we needed. The ambiance was super cozy. It had a bunch of Greek and Italian decorations all over the restaurant and patio. We ate outside on the covered patio and it was beautifully setup. I liked the vines and decorations they had setup. We're not Richmond natives but we'd recommend it to anyone who is. We probably would get Greek food if we came back in the future to see if it is better than the Italian. ”
